Protect Yourself Against Lock Bumping
Lock Bumping is a simple lock breaking technique that has been around for generations. It involves using a special bump key to open a lock. Many homes are susceptible to this type of break in.
What is a Bump Key?
A bump key is a blank key that has been modified for the purpose of opening locks. It will slide into any pin tumbler lock and enable a thief to gain entry to your home in seconds. Lots of pictures and videos of bump keys and lock bumping techniques are available on the web.
Bump-Proof Locks
Most common dead bolts are NOT bump proof, but bump proof locks DO EXIST and they provide extra security for your home or workplace. We can sell and install these locks, and we have a special price on an exceptionally strong bump proof, pick resistant and drill resistant lock below. Compared to the financial and emotional costs of a break in, this type of lock is inexpensive.

Locks Rekeyed
If you have recently moved into a new house or apartment there is no knowing how many tradesmen, realtors or previous residents may have had access to your keys. This worry can be eliminated by rekeying your existing locks. It is a simple, quick, clean and relatively inexpensive procedure which does not require new locks.
Master Keyed
A master key can be made to open all locks in a commercial or institutional setting like a school or hospital. This can give security people or groundskeepers one key that fits all pertinent locks, while their employees can be given different keys which open only one or two locks. In a residential setting, you can have any or all of the locks in your home or apartment work from a single key. No more trying to remember which key works in which lock. And no more cumbersome key rings bulging in your pocket.

Alarms
Alarms are one of the most cost effective deterrents on the market. Why would a burglar target a home with an alarm when other properties on the same street don't have one? If somebody does manage to break in they will usually be scared off because they have been discovered. We can also recommend and install alarms that can also alert you to and protect you against fire, smoke, and carbon monoxide poisoning.
Target Hardening
Target hardening refers to a variety of security measures which make it harder for criminals or opportunists to break into your property, like barred windows, blocker plates over doorframes and locks, cages over lights, window locks, security doors and enclosed shackles on padlocks. These make a break in much more difficult and most are visible from outside your home, so act as a deterrent.
Security Surveys
We can organize a comprehensive evaluation of all aspects of security at your home or workplace. Although many consider that their properties are secure, their are often holes in their security which we can help to fill. Doing it right means setting aside a few moments for a full survey of access points, existing security measures and vulnerabilities. We will be happy to guide you through this process step-by-step and ensure your peace of mind.
Patio Door and Window Locks
Patio doors can often be a weak point in the security of a building. There are good locking and alarm systems which can be incorporated into patio doors and windows, and some of these are illustrated below. The security systems for different types of patio doors vary dramatically, so please call us for pricing.
Mailbox Locks
We can open and give you a new lock with two keys for any kind of mailbox starting at $75-$95 plus GST.
Access Control Systems
High-tech solutions, especially useful in commercial or apartment settings include telephone or video entry systems, keyless entry systems, CCTV networks or key pad technology. We can advise you on the best entrance and exit controls to suit your purpose and your budget.
One of our favourite systems is the COBRA lock, a stand-alone, microprocessor-based, battery-powered solution that features an iButton port, 12-button keypad and standard builder's cylinder. The COBRA lock stores up to 100 codes and allows administrators to easily add or delete users in seconds, right at the keypad. Models are available for use with a wide range of doors, latches and exit devices. All this intelligence is designed around a stylish and robust mechanical chassis with vandal resistant features such as the Vandalgard clutching lever.
The COBRA is a perfect solution for institutional environments like hospitals, airports, corporate campuses, universities, or for commercial applications like managed properties, restaurants, retail establishments or other small businesses where key control and security is a concern.

Our goal is to provide the pricing and quality of service that makes you want to call us for all your locksmithing and security needs, so we aim to respond to emergencies quickly and to offer honest value for money. Fraser Locksmith covers anywhere from East Vancouver to Coquitlam and New Westminster.
Locked out of Bathroom?
We can help you if somebody is locked out of a bathroom, but these locks are usually designed to be quite easily opened from the outside, so we advise that you try to do it yourself. For a door that has a privacy lock (the kind with a hole in the knob on the outside), you need a long, thin, sturdy object that will fit through the hole. A metal coat hanger straightened out, a meat skewer, or the inside of a ballpoint pen will be good for this. Kept handy, one of these tolls could save you from considerable anxiety and frustration trying to get a toddler to unlock the door.
- Put tool straight into the hole in the knob.
- The tool will stop approximately 1 inch to 1½ inside the knob.
- Gently but firmly push the tool just a little bit, approximately ¼ inch (you are pushing the spring loaded release button).
- You should hear a “pop” or “clunk” as the lock unlocks.
- Turn handle.
If this is not successful, make sure the tool is level and is dead center, or call me for help.
Door Guards
Also known as door chains, these chain or solid brass door guards are quick and inexpensive for our professionally trained locksmiths to install. They allow the door to be opened only a few inches while you check who is visiting, providing good security in return for the small investment.
Closed Circuit TV
These systems are invaluable in commercial settings and becoming more common in residential settings. When you need to know who is knocking before you go to the door, this is your answer.
